Hello My Little Tenacious Tots!
Let's talk kids. Specifically mine. They are at that magically age where they say what they think. No filter applied. While this can be completely embarrassing with strangers, it does lead to some interesting conversations with the house. My older boy seems to have become my exercise/life guru. Not bad for a 5 year old! Why? Because he tells me like it is. Last week, he gave me some serious motivation to get my act together.
"Mama, why is that person running? Because they want to get in shape. Why? Because being chubby like Mama and Dada is hard on your heart and your body in general. Mama, tomorrow morning I want you to go running. I don't want you to be as chubby as you are today." Now that really hit close to home. I've been struggling with true motivation to get off the couch. Nothing really has stuck. Now my little boy has let me know I mean something to someone. He wants me to become a better me so I'll be around to play with him, laugh with him, be with him. What could be more motivation than the love of a child? In fact, it motivated me so much I finally did something I had been thinking about by hadn't done. Look up Project Semi-colon. Let's just say now I have a happy heart that I will wear on my sleeve to remind me that I am loved and worthy of being loved.
And then there was this morning. Just as I'm about to head out the door to do a walk, both my boys wake up. And, as I 'm walking out the door, my oh so dear 5 year old voices more words of wisdom.
"Mama, you look fat. You look like you are bending back and making your belly stick out." Really? Tough love from the exercise/life guru. At least when I got back I got some praise. "Mama, you look skinnier now."
Someday that boy will develop a filter But in the meantime I think I will enjoy the ever honest, if sometimes brutal, outlook of my beautiful children.
Until more wisdom is ready to flow from my mind,
