Vacation: Jinx Style

Hello my vacationing viewers!

I know; another blog on vacations?!  Why yes, as it tis the season.  Mine however focuses on camping versus sight seeing. As you may have guessed, I went camping! Yea! Campfires, bugs, and a half mile walk every time I had to use the bathroom.

First off was the food. Nothing tastes quite the same as camping food. Especially when you don't have to cook it. Our camping consisted of a tent right next to family with an RV and more family who had rented a cabin. The great thing is that the person doing the cooking did a great job of hitting all the food groups. So lack of nutrition was not an issue. What was tempting was the snacks. Cookies, pie, gummy bears, and all the soda you could drink! Oh, and let's not forget s'mores! <drool> Sorry, zoned out there for a minute. But you know what? While I did indulge, I only did it lightly. And why is that you ask. Because oh my goodness did I get in some exercise!

Oh did I get the exercise! I have kids as you know and they are VERY active. I chased them around on their bikes. Walked the long walk to the playground. Chased them around the campsite playing games. Pulled them around in a wagon. Took them with me on trips to the bathroom as they suddenly had to go whenever I did. I put on a lot of miles. A LOT of miles. My body is still very unhappy with me. Standing up from my desk brings a groan from me every time. But was it worth it? Heck yeah! My kids were exhausted by the end of the day. I was exhausted by the end of the day. I don't think anyone in my family has slept that soundly in a long time. Impressive for me as we were sleeping on an air mattress!

And the moral of the story? Get out there and have fun whether you are taking in the sights or rubbing elbows with the local wildlife. A vacation is a time to enjoy yourself. If you remember to eat right and sneak in some exercise, that is great. However, don't fret over the small things in life. And a word of advise. When you are making campground reservations, check to see where the bathrooms are!

Until I have more of my motherly wisdom to impart,
