And I am back my little sponges hungering for knowledge!
If you remember from my last post, I was going to work on a plan. Just one plan. So......the plan I chose was food. I love food. And food loves me, as can be seen by my ever expanding waist line! I really do have a love/hate relationship with food. Either I'm swearing off all things that might be bad for me, or eating myself into new pants due to a life set back, food plays a big part in my life. And more importantly I'm seeing how it plays a big part in my family's life as well.
3 of us in my house are just this side of being diabetic. My 2 younger boys constantly want food. Food, especially the healthy and easy to make kind, is usually in short supply at my residence. We buy quick high salt and high sugar snacks. Meals tend to be last minute and usually result in a quick trip to the nearest fast food joint. If it was just me, I probably wouldn't change. However I, for reasons unknown, seem to be in charge of the meal planning. And believe me, I am NOT a cook by any means. Most nights the fire alarm is the dinner bell, and I am not exaggerating!!! And if I am in charge of planning and cooking I want my family to live a long and healthy life.
So, what's an overworked, under-talented, and usually lazy mom supposed to do? Freezer Meals! I can take one day a week or a month or whatever to make easy meals ahead of time. That means no more hearing the nightly "What's for supper?" question. I just got a book to help me with this new adventure in my life. It gives step by step instructions and a variety of options on how to proceed. No "You have to do this or else!". Yea flexibility! And with that, all I need to do if find the time to actually sit down and do this. I'll be reading during the week and hope to try this out in the next week or two. As long as I don't burn the house down, I'll give you an update as soon as I finish my culinary escapades.
Stay Curious My Friends,
