NUOSU Bonus Article: First 5K

Hello Gentle Reader! I come with news, it is done, it is complete. My first 5K is in the books. I said in an article a while back that I would report back to you after this happened and see how it went. Here are the results...

I finished in 47:07, which is an average of 15:05 per mile. I know this is not quite what I had set as my goal. There is a reason, at least in my mind on why I didn't make the 45 minute goal I had set. I was doing the jogging and the running and the walking and somewhere between the end of the first mile and the end of the second mile I started getting pain in the heel of my right foot. It didn't stop me, but, it slowed me down. No matter how much it hurt I wasn't going to stop or start giving in to the pain. I finished the 3.15 mile course in a very decent time.

In doing some research I found that the average time for first time 5K athletes the average time is 55 minutes. I bested that even with a torn open heel. It is painful, but, I look forward to doing my next 5K on July 4th. I will have new running shoes by then and hopefully that will keep me from a replay of today's injury.

I was joined in this by some of my biggest motivators and my cheering crew. My wife, Nicole ( a sometimes writer on this blog), Ultimate Jinx (a weekly writer on this blog), Her husband Mike and my buddy Bo. I want to thank each and everyone of you for being my support structure and my friends. I hope some or all of you will join me for the next one on July 4th.

Just a little something for all of you. My goal for July 4th is 45 minutes. I've adjusted based on my time in this 5K.

Until next time Gentle Reader,

Jaxion Rebel
